About the album

Following up a song as big as "Messy" is the kind of problem most young songwriters would quite like to have. Lola Young, the South London singer who'd already won the Ivor Novello Rising Star award, answered it with an album that's louder, funnier and every bit as frank as the single that made her name, out on Island in September 2025.

Solomonophonic executive produced, with Manuka and Carter Lang at the desk on most tracks and Young producing a couple herself. "One Thing" and "Not Like That Anymore" led the way as singles, "D£aler" struts, "Spiders" turns inward, and "Penny Out of Nothing" and "Walk All Over You" show off a voice that moves easily from a whisper to a full-throated roar. It closes on "Blisters," the song this edition takes its name from.

It's raw, catchy and very much her own, a pop record with rough edges kept on purpose. The title comes with its asterisks printed on the sleeve, which saves us a job.
