About the album

After Justified made Justin Timberlake a solo star, he took a three-year break from writing and came back wanting something stranger. He set up with Timbaland and his colleague Danja at Thomas Crown Studios in Virginia Beach, pulled in techno, electro-funk, trance and rock, and stitched the songs together with preludes, interludes and reprises. Timberlake served as executive producer, and the sessions moved on to The Hit Factory Criteria in Miami for mixing.

"SexyBack" is all distorted vocals and stomping beat, "My Love" ticks along on a glassy synth figure, and "What Goes Around... / ...Comes Around" stretches a breakup into a sweeping, string-laced epic. "Summer Love" adds a breezy pop hit, while the back half drifts into slow-burn territory with "Until the End of Time" and "Losing My Way."

It has sold more than 10 million copies and now has a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's library and archive, which is a very dignified home for a record with this many falsettos.
