About the album

Lage had long wanted to record with drummer Joey Baron and bassist Jorge Roeder. In March 2026 the trio played a week at the Village Vanguard, and Lage decided to document how the music had grown by heading straight to Reservoir Studios in Manhattan.

The studio let the three focus on the essence of each tune. Alongside new originals like "Chop Shop" and "The Builders" sit "Love Is A Many Splendored Thing" and the Ellington and Strayhorn ballad "The Star-Crossed Lovers."
