Jonas Brothers: The Album [REPUBLIC]

Why you'll love it

The Album was the brothers' attempt at the quintessential Jonas Brothers record, built on the 1970s sounds that shaped them. It debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, their seventh top 10 album, and spun off "Wings," "Waffle House" and "Summer Baby."

About the album

Grown-up pop records don't usually come with a song named after a breakfast chain, which is part of the charm here. Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas made The Album as husbands and fathers, writing about enjoying life, parenthood and each other, and aiming for the warm, harmony-rich 1970s sound they grew up loving. It followed Happiness Begins from 2019, and much of it took shape in the studio with Jon Bellion at the piano.

Jon Bellion steered much of it and turns up as the album's sole guest, with the Monsters & Strangerz, Daniel Tashian and others adding production. "Wings" is a gospel-tinged, hand-clapping opener, "Waffle House" turns a family argument over late-night hash browns into a singalong, "Summer Baby" is pure sunshine, and "Montana Sky" and "Sail Away" lean into the soft-rock glow. Critics heard the adult contemporary turn and the nostalgia, and mostly loved it.

The record launched the Five Albums. One Night. tour, which ran from Yankee Stadium in August 2023 to Krakow in October 2024. It's a summer album at heart, and we recommend it in winter too; Toronto needs all the help it can get.
