Jonas Brothers: Happiness Begins 2LP Vinyl

Why you'll love it

This 2LP set gives the album's fourteen songs room across four sides. Happiness Begins debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, went platinum in the US and gold or better in Canada, and "Sucker" was their first song to debut at No. 1 on the Hot 100.

About the album

Ten years is a long gap between albums for any band, never mind three brothers who grew up in public. Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas announced their reunion in February 2019, dropped "Sucker" the next day and had a full album out by June, the first since Lines, Vines and Trying Times in 2009. Days before it arrived, the documentary Chasing Happiness premiered on Amazon Prime Video.

They wanted feel-good songs with a new and improved sound, so Republic put them in rooms with Ryan Tedder, Greg Kurstin and Justin Tranter, with Joel Little, Mike Sabath and Shellback also on board. Tedder said they'd write a song in about 90 minutes and have it demoed by dinner. "Cool" struts, "Only Human" has a breezy reggae lilt, "I Believe" is a synth slow jam, and Nick has described "Hesitate" as Joe's love letter to Sophie Turner.

The Happiness Begins Tour played 92 shows across North America and Europe, and critics welcomed a more grown-up sound that kept the old charm. Writing a hit before dinner is the kind of efficiency we'd love to see applied to our own stock room.
