About the album

Jason Mraz borrowed the album's title from a work by British artist David Shrigley, a fittingly playful source for a record this sunny. Most of it came together between San Diego and London, with progress posted on a YouTube series called Crazy Man's Ju-ju, and it reached fans in stages: three EPs, We Sing., We Dance. and We Steal Things., arrived a month apart before the full album.

"I'm Yours" was the first single, a breezy acoustic strum that seemed to drift out of every open car window that summer. "Lucky," a duet with Colbie Caillat, and "Make It Mine" both went on to win Grammys, and James Morrison joins Mraz on "Details in the Fabric." Billboard noted the strings, horns and formidable grooves, and Entertainment Weekly singled out the beachy guitars and playful scat singing. "Love for a Child" and the closing "A Beautiful Mess" are two of its gentlest moments.

The extra sides open the workshop door, with Casa Nova Sessions takes, "Lucky (Jason's First Draft)" and a version of "Live High" from an avocado salad session, which may be the most California sentence in our entire catalogue.
