About the album

Jason Falkner had already been through a fair few bands before he made this record. He played guitar on The Three O'Clock's final album, Vermillion, which came out on Prince's Paisley Park label, then toured the world with Jellyfish behind their debut, Bellybutton, before forming The Grays with Jon Brion for 1994's Ro Sham Bo. When Elektra signed him as a solo artist in 1996, he made the album almost entirely by himself, writing, producing and playing it all, with a string section on a few songs and one guitar overdub from Alain Johannes the only outside help.

It opens with "I Live" and "Miracle Medicine," and it drew strong reviews when it first came out. For the 30th anniversary Falkner went back to the original tapes for an all-new remix with more depth and punch, and added a side of rarities: the outtake "My Home Is Not A House" plus early 4-track takes of "She Goes To Bed," "Miracle Medicine" and "Song For Her." Thirty years is a long wait for the vinyl, but on red and green it does at least turn up dressed for the season.

Without question, Jason Falkner stands among the most gifted musicians, songwriters, and producers in modern popular music.
