Fiona Apple's 1999 second album When the Pawn..., produced by Jon Brion: "Fast as You Can," "Paper Bag" and "Limp." On 180-gram vinyl.
When the Pawn... earned a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album and is often named one of the great singer-songwriter records of its era.
Working with producer Jon Brion, Fiona Apple made a richly arranged, jazzy and inventive record full of piano, strings, quirky percussion and her powerful, expressive voice. Its full title is a 90-word poem she wrote herself, at the time the longest album title on record.
"Fast as You Can" swings between tempos with style, "Paper Bag" is a swinging, horn-kissed favourite, and "Limp," "To Your Love" and "I Know" show off her remarkable range as a writer and singer.
