Idles and composer Rob Simonsen's soundtrack for Darren Aronofsky's 2025 film Caught Stealing, on white vinyl with a printed inner sleeve.
This Partisan edition comes on white vinyl with a printed inner sleeve, pressed in the USA. Its 17 tracks pair the Bristol band's punch with Simonsen's score for Aronofsky's crime caper starring Austin Butler.
Darren Aronofsky's Caught Stealing is set in New York in 1998, and the track titles read like a walk around the Lower East Side: "Tompkins Square Park," "Loisaida," "Alphabet City" and "6th and A." Austin Butler plays Hank, a former ballplayer tending bar who gets dragged into the city's criminal underworld, and the music had to keep pace with him.
Aronofsky's Protozoa Pictures paired Idles with film composer Rob Simonsen, and the result swings between the Bristol band's taut, wiry punk and Simonsen's tense, propulsive cues. "Doom," "Cheerleader" and "Rabbit Run" bring the snarl, while "Kim's Video," "Walk/Don't Walk" and "Under the El" set the scene with neon and grime. The film is adapted from Charlie Huston's novel, and Partisan, home to the band's own albums, put the score out on vinyl.
It plays as a proper album, as happy on a Saturday afternoon as behind the closing credits. Kim's Video was a beloved East Village rental shop, so a record shop stocking a song named after it feels like simple professional courtesy.
