About the album

The Haim sisters learned to play in Rockinhaim, a covers band their parents formed for local charity fairs, with Dad on drums and Mom on guitar. Danielle played guitar for Jenny Lewis and in CeeLo Green's band Scarlet Fever, and once the sisters got serious, Este, Danielle and Alana put out a free three-song EP in 2012, wowed South by Southwest, and suddenly had a record deal.

Days Are Gone mixes 1970s California rock with 1980s pop, 90s R&B and a dash of yacht rock, and the singles keep coming: "Forever," "Don't Save Me," "Falling," "The Wire," "If I Could Change Your Mind" and "My Song 5." The new LP brings "Better Off," "Send Me Down" and "Edge," a demo of "Go Slow," and Giorgio Moroder's take on "Forever."

Pitchfork put it among the 100 best albums of the decade's first half, and Ann Powers at NPR said it was good for music lovers of all ages. They supported Mumford & Sons and Florence and the Machine before the album was even out. Rockinhaim, we understand, remains available for charity fairs.
