Haim's sparkling 2013 debut Days Are Gone from the three Los Angeles sisters: "The Wire," "Forever," "Falling" and "Don't Save Me."
Days Are Gone announced Este, Danielle and Alana Haim as instant favourites, and Pitchfork put it on its list of the best albums of the decade before the decade was half done.
Growing up in the San Fernando Valley, the Haim sisters played covers in a family band with their parents, soaking up their folks' classic rock and Americana. Add a love of 90s R&B and big pop hooks, and you get the bright, punchy sound of Days Are Gone.
"Falling" pulses with tight, syncopated grooves, "The Wire" is a Fleetwood Mac-meets-Shania stomper, "Forever" glitters, and "Don't Save Me" and "If I Could Change Your Mind" bounce with irresistible harmonies and slinky basslines.
Six singles came off the record, and the band became a festival staple almost overnight. It's the sound of three sisters who've been playing together their whole lives, and it shows in every harmony.
