24K Magic swept the Grammys, winning Album, Record and Song of the Year. Nine songs of slick, joyful, '80s and '90s R&B and funk, with "That's What I Like" and "Finesse" leading the way.
After "Uptown Funk" became one of the biggest songs of all time, Bruno Mars decided to make a whole album of party music, inspired by the New Jack Swing, R&B and funk he loved growing up: Babyface, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Teddy Riley, Boyz II Men and Prince all come to mind. 24K Magic is short, sweet and wall-to-wall fun.
The title track is a strutting talk-box anthem, "That's What I Like" went to No. 1, "Finesse" is a dead-on New Jack Swing throwback, "Versace on the Floor" is a candlelit slow jam, and "Calling All My Lovelies" and "Straight Up & Down" keep the grooves flowing. At the 2018 Grammys it swept every category it was nominated in.
