Britney Spears' 2000 second album Oops!... I Did It Again, with the title track, "Stronger" and "Lucky."
This Legacy LP brings the original 12-song album back on vinyl with its original Jive cover art. It sold 1.319 million copies in its first US week, went diamond and has passed 20 million copies worldwide.
Following a debut that sold ten million is the kind of pressure most 18-year-olds never meet. Britney Spears met it head on, working between Max Martin's Cheiron Studios in Stockholm, Mutt Lange's villa in Switzerland and studios in New York, Orlando and Los Angeles, and coming back with a sequel that leaned harder into funk and R&B.
Max Martin and Rami Yacoub built the title track, "Stronger" and "Lucky," Lange produced "Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know," Diane Warren wrote "When Your Eyes Say It," and Rodney Jerkins cut her cover of "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" in Los Angeles. "Dear Diary," which Spears co-wrote, closes things on a quiet, personal note.
It earned a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album, and its first-week mark for a female artist stood for 15 years until Adele's 25. Twenty-five years on, the red catsuit from the video still turns up every Halloween, usually on someone who wasn't born when it came out.
