About the album

By 2004 Britney Spears had four straight No. 1 albums behind her, so while she recovered from a knee injury, Jive gathered up the hits. It turned into a proper event: the singles from ...Baby One More Time through In the Zone, plus three new songs.

The new ones lead the way: a sleek cover of Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative," "Do Somethin'" and "I've Just Begun (Having My Fun)." Then the classics roll in: "Toxic," which won her first Grammy, "I'm a Slave 4 U," "Me Against the Music" with Madonna, "Stronger," "Lucky" and "Everytime." Side D goes to the clubs with Armand Van Helden's "Toxic" edit and Jacques Lu Cont's "Breathe on Me," and Pharrell turns up on the Co-Ed remix of "Boys." "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" and "Sometimes" bring the ballads, and "(You Drive Me) Crazy" arrives in its Stop Remix from the Drive Me Crazy soundtrack.

Taken together it's a tour of how pop sounded at the turn of the millennium, mostly because she was the one setting the sound. Two records, twenty-odd hits, and absolutely no chance we'll get "Toxic" out of our heads before closing.
