About the album

Most bands would rather you never heard their demos. Brand New's escaped onto the internet in January 2006, untitled and unfinished, and fans spent years referring to the songs by their track numbers. The band's own notes on this pressing admit they still don't know how it happened.

The recordings come from 2005 sessions in producer Mike Sapone's basement, some just Jesse Lacey and an acoustic guitar, others full-band. "Luca" and "Yeah (Sowing Season)" were reworked for The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me, "Fork and Knife" became a standalone single, "Brother's Song" turned into a B-side, and "Good Man" and "1996" are moody, unvarnished gems. The 2015 restoration gives them far better sound than the original leak.

The band officially put the collection out on cassette in December 2015. Taking ten years to approve your own leak is, in the trade, what's known as thorough.
