About the album

Bon Iver main man Justin Vernon kept a somewhat low profile after I, I in 2019, finally breaking his silence (apart from, oh yeah, a duet with an unknown young artist named Taylor Swift on Folklore's Exile) in 2024 with the back-to-basics SABLE EP. Anticipation ran high, then, for Bon Iver's fifth LP, SABLE, fABLE, which arrived via longtime label Jagjaguwar on April 11, 2025.

Vernon certainly seemed poised for a return to the sensitive acoustic fingerpickin' of 2007's For Emma, Forever Ago on the EP, which comes packaged as a separate disc with the new album, but nobody could be sure; the man has made a career out of being predictably unpredictable. Guests on the new record include Dijon, Danielle Haim and Flock of Dimes, and it was billed as a love story set to lush, radiant pop music. Sounds about right.

Vernon co-produced it with Jim-E Stack at his April Base studio in Wisconsin, and Haim sings on "I'll Be There" and "If Only I Could Wait," while "Everything Is Peaceful Love" glows. Critics loved its brighter sound and plainer songwriting. It's here on black and salmon vinyl, ready for weepin'.
