About the album

Two years after The Album, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa came back with a record they described as "the essence" of Blackpink. Back home it sold 2.2 million copies in under two days, making it the best-selling album by a female act in South Korea and the first to pass two million. "Pink Venom" alone topped the charts in ten countries.

Longtime YG hitmaker Teddy Park led the production with 24, Freddy Wexler, Nohc and Paro. "Pink Venom" opens with a hip-hop swagger, "Shut Down" struts with real attitude, "Typa Girl" flexes, and Jisoo and Rosé co-wrote the bright "Yeah Yeah Yeah." The sound ranges across pop, hip hop, EDM, disco, bubblegum and stadium rock, and "Ready for Love," first heard with the game PUBG Mobile, closes the set with a warm, sunny lift. Lyrically it deals with love, self-confidence and handling fame, with more English than ever and faster tempos than The Album.

The Born Pink World Tour that followed became the highest-grossing concert tour by a female group. Pink vinyl for an album called Born Pink; some decisions make themselves.
