About the album

Most action films add the music afterwards. Edgar Wright built Baby Driver around its songs, the story of a young getaway driver who times every move to whatever's playing in his earbuds, and named the whole thing after the Simon & Garfunkel song that plays over the end credits.

The opening heist runs on The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion's "Bellbottoms," and from there the mix swerves through Bob & Earl's "Harlem Shuffle," Dave Brubeck's "Unsquare Dance," The Damned's "Neat Neat Neat," Martha and the Vandellas' "Nowhere to Run," Focus's yodelling "Hocus Pocus" and Queen's "Brighton Rock," with T. Rex's "Debora" and Beck's "Debra" side by side for good measure. Golden Earring's "Radar Love" and Young MC's "Know How" keep the engine running.

It also reached No. 5 in Australia and went silver in the UK. It won the Empire Award for Best Soundtrack. Wright checked with James Gunn beforehand to make sure his film and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 didn't share any songs, which is surely the most courteous thing anyone has ever done in a car chase.
