![Aretha Franklin: Lady Soul [ATLANTIC]](https://cdn.shoplightspeed.com/shops/621399/files/40785418/1652x1652x2/new-vinyl-aretha-franklin-lady-soul-atlantic.jpg)
Aretha Franklin's towering 1968 album Lady Soul: "Chain of Fools," "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," "Ain't No Way" and "Since You've Been Gone."
Lady Soul spent sixteen weeks at No. 1 on the R&B album chart and is one of the greatest soul albums ever made, with three classics in a row.
Produced by Jerry Wexler with the cream of Muscle Shoals and New York session players, plus Eric Clapton on "Good to Me as I Am to You" and sister Carolyn Franklin's songwriting, Lady Soul finds Aretha at the peak of her power.
"Chain of Fools" grooves on that unforgettable guitar, "A Natural Woman" is breathtaking, "Ain't No Way" is a soaring ballad, and her takes on "People Get Ready" and "Groovin'" are gorgeous.
Muscle Shoals grit, New York polish and a voice above both. The shop goes quiet whenever it's on.
