About the album

Six years after 25, Adele came back with her most personal record yet. 30 grew out of her divorce and the questions it raised about motherhood, fame and her son's life, and she began writing it in 2018 with a few songs saved from the 25 sessions that she felt suited an older voice.

She spread the work across a handful of trusted producers: Greg Kurstin on "Easy On Me" and "I Drink Wine," Inflo on the gospel-tinged "Hold On" and "Love Is A Game," Max Martin and Shellback on the sprightly "Can I Get It," and Ludwig Göransson on the cinematic opener "Strangers By Nature." "My Little Love" weaves in voice notes of conversations with her son, and "To Be Loved" is a single piano and that voice, flat out, in one of the most powerful vocal takes of her career. The palette takes in pop, soul and jazz with dance-pop and R&B shading.

The win made her the first solo artist to take the Brit for British Album of the Year three times. At this rate the trophy cabinet will need its own extension.
