AC/DC's 1976 third album Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, remastered on 180g vinyl, with the title track, "Problem Child" and "Ride On."
This remastered 180g pressing comes with a printed inner sleeve of band photos, lyrics and notes. It's Bon Scott at his swaggering best, from the title track to the slow blues of "Ride On."
The title came from a cartoon. Angus Young grew up watching Beany and Cecil, where the villain Dishonest John carried a business card promising dirty deeds done dirt cheap, with special rates for Sundays and holidays. AC/DC built a whole album around the joke, with a Bogart-style mystery as its loose concept.
Harry Vanda and George Young, the Youngs' older brother, produced at Albert Studios in Sydney, and this was the first AC/DC album recorded start to finish by one lineup. The title track became one of their most famous songs, "Problem Child" was Bon Scott's portrait of Angus, and "Ride On" slows right down into a lonely blues with one of Angus's finest solos. Stephen King once proved his fandom to the band by singing "Ain't No Fun" back to them line for line. Bon Scott and the Young brothers wrote every song.
The album first came out in Australia and Europe, and America finally got it in 1981. The motel on the cover stood at 6826 Sunset Boulevard, and we're told the special Sunday rates are no longer honoured.
