AC/DC's 1976 international debut High Voltage, remastered on 180g vinyl: "It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)," "T.N.T." and "The Jack."
This edition is remastered from the original master tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl with a printed inner sleeve. High Voltage introduced Bon Scott and the Young brothers to the world, with "T.N.T.," "Live Wire" and "It's A Long Way To The Top" still staples of their live show.
The world met AC/DC through this record. It gathered the best of their first two Australian albums into one international debut in 1976, and from the opening bagpipes of "It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)" it's clear this band had arrived fully formed.
Harry Vanda and George Young, Angus and Malcolm's older brother, produced at Albert Studios in Sydney, keeping it lean and loud. "T.N.T." is a terrace chant with a riff, "Live Wire" builds from a bass pulse into a stampede, "The Jack" is a slow, swaggering blues, and "Rock 'N' Roll Singer" and the title track show how much fun Bon Scott was having at the mic.
Scott was born in Scotland, as were the Young brothers, and he played those bagpipes himself. It may be the most Scottish moment in the history of Australian rock, and we've yet to hear a serious challenger.
