Wolf Alice's 2025 album The Clearing on indie exclusive bone coloured vinyl: "Bloom Baby Bloom," "The Sofa" and "White Horses."
This indie exclusive pressing puts the London band's fourth album on bone coloured vinyl. NME gave it five stars, and it scored 80 on Metacritic.
Wolf Alice described The Clearing as something close to what Fleetwood Mac might make if they wrote an album today in North London, and that's a fair summary. After Blue Weekend, the band wrote these songs in London and flew to Los Angeles to record with Greg Kurstin, aiming for a classic pop-rock record with its roots in the 1970s and its feet firmly in the present. They called it both playful and serious, ironic and straight-talking.
"Bloom Baby Bloom" opened the campaign with Ellie Rowsell's voice used, as Kurstin put it, like a rock instrument. "The Sofa" is a warm, slow-burning closer, "White Horses" hands co-lead vocals to drummer Joel Amey, and "Just Two Girls" got a video starring Lucy Boynton. Guitarist Joff Oddie and bassist Theo Ellis fill out the sound with layered guitars and bass that swing more than they shove.
Rolling Stone compared it to Tapestry and Bella Donna, which is exalted company. The band wrote it in Seven Sisters, which is a north London neighbourhood and not, as some of us assumed, a backing-vocal arrangement.
