Whitesnake's 1984 breakthrough Slide It In, in its US mix cut from the original analog tapes, with "Love Ain't No Stranger" and "Slow An' Easy."
This edition uses the US mix, cut from the original analog tapes and pressed in the Czech Republic. Slide It In reached No. 9 in the UK and went double platinum in the US, the record that opened America to David Coverdale's band.
Some albums get a second go before they've even settled in. Recorded at Musicland Studios in Munich in 1983, Slide It In first came out in Europe early in 1984; then Geffen, keen to win over America, had it remixed and resequenced for its North American debut that April. Geffen A&R man John Kalodner, a longtime fan, had persuaded David Geffen to sign the band.
The lineup is a hard-rock dream: Cozy Powell on drums, Jon Lord on keyboards and Mel Galley and Micky Moody on guitars, with John Sykes adding new guitar parts and Neil Murray replacing the bass for the US mix. Keith Olsen's remix gave "Love Ain't No Stranger," "Slow An' Easy" and "Gambler" the punch American radio wanted, while "Give Me More Time" and "Standing In The Shadow" round out a set built for arenas.
It laid the groundwork for the 1987 album that made Whitesnake huge, and it was the last to wear the band's original snake logo. Remixing an entire album for another continent is serious commitment; we struggle to re-alphabetize the W section.
