Whitesnake's 1989 album Slip of the Tongue, cut from the original analog tapes, with Steve Vai on guitar and "The Deeper The Love."
This reissue is cut from the original analog tapes and pressed in the EU. The album reached No. 10 on both the Billboard 200 and the UK chart, went platinum in the US and topped the chart in Finland.
Plans change. David Coverdale and Adrian Vandenberg wrote these songs together at Lake Tahoe, but a wrist injury kept Vandenberg from playing on the record, so Coverdale called Steve Vai, having seen him in the 1986 film Crossroads. Vai asked for, and got, complete freedom over the guitar parts, and recorded them at his home studio.
Mike Clink cut the basic tracks and Keith Olsen handled the overdubs, vocals and keyboards, while Tommy Funderburk, Richard Page of Mr. Mister and Glenn Hughes sang backing vocals. "Fool For Your Loving" returns as a supercharged re-recording of the band's 1980 hit, "Now You're Gone" and "The Deeper The Love" went to radio, and "Judgment Day" and "Wings Of The Storm" let Vai off the leash.
Following the multi-platinum 1987 album, it kept the run going and has sold over four million copies worldwide. The Liquor & Poker world tour followed, with Aerosmith and Bad English on the bills. Hiring a guitarist because you liked him in a film is a bold move; we hired our last one because he could reach the top shelf.
