About the album

Picture a Southern California beach bar at closing time, a slightly sunburnt band still playing, and you've got the Growlers. Brooks Nielsen's crew had already cornered the market in woozy, surf-tinged "beach goth" before Chinese Fountain, and this is where they polished it to a shine.

The hooks come thick and fast. "Going Gets Tough" bounces along on a disco-flecked strut, "Love Test" and "Black Memories" jangle and sway, the title track pokes fun at modern life with a grin, and "Big Toe" and "Magnificent Sadness" glow with lazy, sunlit charm.

Brooks Nielsen's crew make closing time sound like the best part of the night.
