The Dead Weather's 2009 debut Horehound as a 2LP set on 180g vinyl with an etched fourth side, with "Hang You From The Heavens" and "Treat Me Like Your Mother."
This 180g 2LP set gives the album three sides of music and an etched fourth. Horehound debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and No. 14 in the UK.
Jack White starts bands the way other people take up hobbies, and this one put him behind the drum kit. He teamed with Alison Mosshart on vocals, Dean Fertita on guitar and keys and Jack Lawrence on bass, and the four of them cut Horehound in a three-week burst at Third Man Studios in Nashville in January 2009, with White producing.
The result is swampy, menacing blues rock with Mosshart prowling out front. "Hang You From The Heavens" came first as a single, "Treat Me Like Your Mother" turns a vocal duel into a showdown, and "I Cut Like A Buffalo" sways on a woozy groove. "60 Feet Tall" opens at a slow burn, while "Will There Be Enough Water?" closes things out with White on acoustic guitar and Lawrence moving over to drums.
Instruments change hands all over the record, with Mosshart picking up guitar on "3 Birds" and Fertita playing bass on "Rocking Horse." It either shows remarkable versatility or a very relaxed policy about who carries the gear.
