30th anniversary edition of the Cranberries' 1994 multi-million seller No Need to Argue: "Zombie," "Ode to My Family," "Ridiculous Thoughts" and "Empty."
No Need to Argue is the Cranberries' best-selling album, with over 17 million copies sold, and it's home to "Zombie," one of the most powerful protest songs of the '90s. This edition marks its 30th anniversary.
After their debut made them unlikely global stars, the Cranberries came back harder and darker on their second album. Two years on the road had toughened up their sound, and with producer Stephen Street they cranked up the distortion without losing the delicate, dreamy side that made Dolores O'Riordan's voice so special.
"Zombie," written in response to an IRA bombing in Warrington, is a snarling, heartfelt anthem that still hits hard, "Ode to My Family" is gorgeous and wistful, "Ridiculous Thoughts" soars, and "Empty" and "Dreaming My Dreams" are achingly lovely. It sold more than 17 million copies worldwide and remains the band's defining record.
