About the album

Robbie Robertson, Levon Helm, Rick Danko, Richard Manuel and Garth Hudson created a rich, rootsy sound that felt both ancient and new, with three distinctive lead singers trading verses over Hudson's swirling organ and Helm's deep-in-the-pocket drumming. Four of them hailed from Ontario.

"The Weight" is one of the most beloved songs in rock, "Up on Cripple Creek" is funky and fun, "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" is powerful storytelling, and "Stage Fright," "Ophelia" and "Life Is a Carnival" show off their range.
