About the album

Three days at Jackson Browne's studio in Los Angeles, free of charge, and Stevie Ray Vaughan walked out with one of the great debut albums in blues. Texas Flood was played live off the floor with Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton, and you can hear every spark.

"Pride and Joy" shuffles with pure Texas swagger, "Love Struck Baby" rocks like Chuck Berry on a sugar high, and the title track, a slow-burning cover of Larry Davis' 1958 blues, is a six-string masterclass. "Rude Mood" is a breakneck instrumental and "Lenny," written for his wife, is achingly tender.

Vaughan wrote six of the ten songs. If you play guitar, this record has probably already changed your life.
