Sade's fourth album, the lush 1992 classic with "No Ordinary Love" and "Cherish the Day," newly half-speed mastered at Abbey Road.
This is the half-speed master, cut at Abbey Road Studios from high-resolution transfers of the original stereo mixes with no extra digital limiting. Love Deluxe went 4x platinum in the U.S., peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and sits on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums list.
Love Deluxe is the record where Sade went lush. After a break following the Stronger Than Pride tour, Sade Adu, Stuart Matthewman, Paul Denman and Andrew Hale spent four months in the studio and came back with something sleeker and more modern: barely any live drums, programmed grooves, and a hazy blend of R&B, cool jazz and ambient mood that still sounds like nothing else. "You can buy any kind of love," Adu said at the time, "but you can't get love deluxe."
The songs are the real luxury. "No Ordinary Love" opens with that menacing, slow-burn riff, "Kiss of Life" floats on a jazzy Motown groove and "Cherish the Day" is about as close to perfect as soul music gets. It was the band's last album for eight years, until Lovers Rock in 2000, which only made people treasure it more.
