Steely Dan: Pretzel Logic [ABC / HIP-O]

Why you'll love it

Pretzel Logic is Steely Dan's most compact and tuneful album, eleven witty, jazzy gems led by their biggest hit, "Rikki Don't Lose That Number."

About the album

Walter Becker and Donald Fagen, with producer Gary Katz and the last full touring lineup of the band, blended rock, pop and jazz into tight, sophisticated songs full of sly, cryptic lyrics.

"Rikki Don't Lose That Number" is a glorious hit, "Any Major Dude Will Tell You" is gentle and wise, "Night by Night" funks, "Parker's Band" salutes Charlie Parker, and their take on Duke Ellington's "East St. Louis Toodle-Oo" is pure fun.
