About the album

There are greatest hits sets, and then there's a band with so many hits it took three volumes to hold them. The Platinum Collection first gathered Greatest Hits (1981), Greatest Hits II (1991) and Greatest Hits III (1999) in one box in 2000, and this edition spreads the lot across six LPs.

The first volume is the 70s run from "Killer Queen" and "Bohemian Rhapsody" to "We Will Rock You," "We Are the Champions" and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love." The second picks up with "Under Pressure," "Radio Ga Ga," "I Want to Break Free," "A Kind of Magic" and "Innuendo." The third brings the collaborations and solo cuts: "The Show Must Go On" with Elton John, "Somebody to Love" with George Michael, "Barcelona" with Montserrat Caballé, plus Freddie Mercury's "Living on My Own" and Brian May's "Driven by You."

In 2018 it climbed into the US top 10 alongside the Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack, giving Queen two albums there at once. Fifty-one songs, six records and not one of them you'll skip, which is bad news for anyone hoping to get to bed early.
