Half-speed mastered 180g vinyl of Queen's 1975 masterpiece A Night at the Opera: "Bohemian Rhapsody," "You're My Best Friend" and "Love of My Life."
A Night at the Opera gave the world "Bohemian Rhapsody," which spent nine weeks at No. 1 in the UK, and it was reportedly the most expensive album ever recorded at the time. This edition was half-speed mastered at Abbey Road.
Named after the Marx Brothers film, Queen's fourth album is where everything came together: Freddie Mercury's operatic ambition, Brian May's orchestral guitar army, Roger Taylor's rock-god vocals and John Deacon's knack for a perfect pop song. Producer Roy Thomas Baker and the band used every studio trick available in 1975 and invented a few more.
"Bohemian Rhapsody" needs no introduction, but there's so much more: Deacon's sunny "You're My Best Friend," Mercury's tender "Love of My Life," Taylor's "I'm in Love with My Car," May's epic "The Prophet's Song" and the ukulele charm of "Good Company." Half-speed mastering brings out every layer of harmony.
