About the album

Few bands get their album title from their dad's sock drawer, more or less. Portugal. The Man had a whole record in the works, working title Gloomin + Doomin, when singer John Gourley had a long talk with his father and turned up an old ticket stub from the 1969 Woodstock festival. The shelved project was folded into something new, looser and a lot more fun.

The Alaskan band brought in a stack of producers, Danger Mouse, John Hill and Asa Taccone among them, with Mike D of the Beastie Boys lending a hand. "Feel It Still" is the irresistible one, a falsetto, bass-and-handclaps strut that seemed to be on every radio in 2017. "Live In The Moment" is just as bright, "Number One" opens the album with a swagger and "Rich Friends" and "Tidal Wave" keep the hooks coming.

"Feel It Still" was the band's first ever Hot 100 entry, eight albums in, and "Live In The Moment" ended up on the FIFA 18 soundtrack. The cover is a burning Rolls-Royce, which is one way to say the old plans are off.
