About the album

When Jane's Addiction split in 1991, Perry Farrell and drummer Stephen Perkins didn't sit around. They brought in guitarist Peter DiStefano and bassist Martyn LeNoble, named the new band after the chaos of the 1992 Los Angeles riots, and made a record that's dreamy, druggy and wildly inventive.

"Pets" is the big one, a hazy, sardonic singalong that went to No. 1 on the Modern Rock chart. "Cursed Male" and "Cursed Female" crunch and swirl, "Meija" floats in on a lovely mood, and "Sadness" opens the album with a slow, hypnotic shimmer.

It still sounds like nothing else from the era.
