Panic! at the Disco's Beatles-inspired 2008 second album Pretty. Odd.: "Nine in the Afternoon," "Northern Downpour," "That Green Gentleman" and "When the Day Met the Night."
Pretty. Odd. is Panic! at the Disco's bold leap into sunny, baroque psychedelic pop, a fan favourite full of horns, strings and big, warm melodies.
Recorded in Las Vegas with extra sessions at Abbey Road with producer Rob Mathes, the album trades the emo theatrics of their debut for the influence of the Beatles and the Beach Boys.
"Nine in the Afternoon" is a cheerful, piano-bouncing hit, "Northern Downpour" is a gorgeous, bittersweet ballad, "That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed)" jangles, and "When the Day Met the Night" swells with brass.
Pretty. Odd. Pretty good.
