About the album

Two years after their debut single, Oasis played to a quarter of a million people over two August nights in a field in Hertfordshire. These recordings from August 10 and 11, 1996, waited a quarter of a century for a full outing, finally arriving in 2021 alongside Jake Scott's documentary, which became the highest-grossing documentary of the year in the UK. Jill Furmanovsky's cover photo comes from Glastonbury 1995 and was used on the posters for the shows.

The set is close to a greatest hits run. "Columbia," "Acquiesce" and "Supersonic" open, "Some Might Say," "Roll with It" and "Slide Away" follow, and the middle stretch moves from "Cast No Shadow" through "Wonderwall" to "The Masterplan," with strings and brass filling out the sound. "My Big Mouth" was still brand new, a taste of Be Here Now, and the band close with The Beatles' "I Am the Walrus." Liam, Noel, Bonehead, Guigsy and Whitey are joined by Mark Feltham on harmonica and Janette Mason on keyboards.

Plenty of people say they were there that weekend. For everyone else, this is the next best thing, and the walk back to the car park is considerably shorter.
