Miles Davis' 1969 ambient jazz landmark In a Silent Way, with Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Joe Zawinul and John McLaughlin. 50th anniversary edition.
In a Silent Way marked the start of Miles Davis' electric period, a serene, hypnotic record that paved the way for Bitches Brew and jazz fusion.
Recorded in a single session in February 1969 and shaped by producer Teo Macero's pioneering tape editing, In a Silent Way brought electric pianos, organ and electric guitar into Miles Davis' music, creating long, floating, groove-based pieces of extraordinary calm.
Side one's "Shhh / Peaceful" glides on Tony Williams' hi-hat and shimmering keyboards, and side two pairs Joe Zawinul's gorgeous "In a Silent Way" with the slow-building groove of "It's About That Time." A record that changed jazz.
