Laufey: Everything I Know About Love (standard repress) [AWAL]

Why you'll love it

This is the album that started the Laufey phenomenon, home of "Valentine", "Fragile" and "Dear Soulmate" and the springboard for her Grammy-winning Bewitched. It's jazz standards-era romance for a brand new generation.

This edition

• Single LP, 13 tracks
• AWAL standard repress
• Includes "Valentine", "Fragile" and a cover of "I've Never Been in Love Before"

About the album

Laufey had only just crossed over into her 20s when Everything I Know About Love arrived in 2022, but the consensus among most observers was that her rich, textured voice sounded like it was beamed in from another age altogether and could easily belong to a much older performer. The Icelandic singer herself conceded that the record was a "hopelessly romantic" piece of work, so it's hard to knock the ooey-gooey subject matter of tunes like "Valentine," "Dear Soulmate" and "I've Never Been in Love Before" when she's that upfront about where she's coming from.

And all sentimentality aside, Everything I Know About Love definitely signalled the arrival of a jazz-infatuated talent to be reckoned with. Bewitched and a Grammy followed soon after, but this is where it all began.
