About the album

Miles Davis assembled a dream sextet for Kind of Blue: John Coltrane and Cannonball Adderley on saxophones, Bill Evans (and Wynton Kelly on one track) on piano, Paul Chambers on bass and Jimmy Cobb on drums. Working from simple modal sketches, they created music of extraordinary calm, space and beauty.

"So What" opens with its famous bass-and-piano call and response, "Freddie Freeloader" swings with the blues, "Blue in Green" is hauntingly lovely, "All Blues" rolls along in 6/8, and "Flamenco Sketches" closes in quiet wonder. An essential record for every collection.
