![Mastodon: Crack the Skye [REPRISE]](https://cdn.shoplightspeed.com/shops/621399/files/33631036/1652x1652x2/new-vinyl-mastodon-crack-the-skye-reprise.jpg)
Mastodon's epic 2009 concept album Crack the Skye: "Oblivion," "Divinations," "The Czar" and "The Last Baron."
Crack the Skye is Mastodon's progressive metal masterpiece, a mind-bending journey through space, astral travel and Tsarist Russia with their most melodic songs.
Produced by Brendan O'Brien, the album finds drummer Brann Dailor stepping up as a third lead vocalist and lyricist, telling a cosmic tale partly inspired by his late sister Skye, while Brent Hinds and Bill Kelliher weave dazzling guitar work.
"Oblivion" is soaring and heavy, "Divinations" gallops with banjo and riffs, "The Czar" is a sweeping four-part epic, and "The Last Baron" closes with thirteen minutes of prog grandeur.
Mastodon's progressive metal masterpiece. Mind-bending, in the best way.
