About the album

Magdalena Bay are Mica Tenenbaum and Matthew Lewin, two Miami-raised musicians who met in a prog band as teenagers and ended up in Los Angeles making maximalist, internet-age pop. They wrote, produced and recorded their debut album themselves over two years, and it plays like a sparkling mixtape from a slightly different universe.

"Chaeri" is the standout, a bittersweet song about missing a friend, "Secrets (Your Fire)" and "You Lose!" are huge disco-pop rushes, and the whole thing flows from "The End" to "The Beginning" like a loop you never want to stop. It quickly became a cult favourite and set the stage for 2024's Imaginal Disk.
