Led Zeppelin's 1973 fifth album: "The Song Remains the Same," "The Rain Song," "Over the Hills and Far Away" and "No Quarter."
On order
Houses of the Holy went to No. 1 in the US and UK and has been certified diamond. Several songs became fixtures of Zeppelin's live show, and the Hipgnosis cover is one of rock's most famous.
With Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones both setting up studios at home, Led Zeppelin had room to stretch out on their fifth album, and they used it. Houses of the Holy moves from the twelve-string rush of "The Song Remains the Same" to the lush orchestral sweep of "The Rain Song," with funk, reggae and spooky keyboard epics along the way.
"Over the Hills and Far Away" is a perfect acoustic-to-electric rocker, "No Quarter" is Jones at his eeriest, "Dancing Days" and "The Ocean" swagger, and "D'yer Mak'er" and "The Crunge" show their playful side. It's the most colourful album they ever made.
