Led Zeppelin's earth-shaking 1969 debut, remastered by Jimmy Page: "Good Times Bad Times," "Dazed and Confused," "Communication Breakdown" and "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You."
Led Zeppelin's first album basically invented the blueprint for hard rock: Jimmy Page's riffs, Robert Plant's wail, John Paul Jones' groove and John Bonham's thunder. This pressing uses Page's remaster.
Jimmy Page had just come out of the Yardbirds with a head full of ideas when he put Led Zeppelin together in 1968, and the band went into Olympic Studios in London and cut their debut in a matter of days, playing mostly live. The result was louder, heavier and bluesier than just about anything else around.
"Good Times Bad Times" kicks off with one of rock's most famous drum parts, "Dazed and Confused" (with Page's violin bow) is a slow, menacing epic, "Communication Breakdown" is proto-punk at full speed, and "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" and "Black Mountain Side" show the folk side that would bloom later on. Rock music was never quite the same.
