About the album

After the noir gloom of Ultraviolence and Honeymoon, Lana Del Rey opened the curtains a little on Lust for Life. It's still unmistakably her (cinematic, dreamy, steeped in old Hollywood and California myth) but there's a new warmth and a looser, hip-hop-inflected swing to it, helped along by producers Rick Nowels, Boi-1da and Metro Boomin.

It's also her most generous record. The Weeknd duets on the title track, Stevie Nicks drifts in for "Beautiful People Beautiful Problems," Sean Lennon joins her on "Tomorrow Never Came" and A$AP Rocky and Playboi Carti trade lines on "Summer Bummer." The opener "Love" is one of her loveliest songs, and the whole sprawling, 72-minute album feels like a long, slow drive down the coast at dusk.
