Lana Del Rey: Honeymoon (2LP) [POLYDOR / INTERSCOPE]

Why you'll love it

Honeymoon is Lana Del Rey at her most dreamy and old-Hollywood: slow, string-swept, noir-ish songs that went to No. 2 in the US. "High by the Beach" and "Terrence Loves You" are fan favourites.

About the album

After the guitar-heavy Ultraviolence, Lana Del Rey went back to the lush, orchestral sound of her early records, and then slowed it down even further. Honeymoon, made with her longtime collaborators Rick Nowels and Kieron Menzies, is a languid, cinematic record full of strings, trap-tinged beats, jazz horns and lyrics about doomed romance, Hollywood and the sea.

"High by the Beach" was the hit, "Terrence Loves You" quotes David Bowie's "Space Oddity," "Music to Watch Boys To" and "Salvatore" are swooning and theatrical, and it closes with a dramatic cover of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood." Lots of fans name it as her most underrated album.
