About the album

Every pop comeback needs a strong opening line, and Kylie chose a glam stomp. After her recovery from breast cancer and the triumphant Showgirl: Homecoming Tour, she went back into the studio in 2007 to finish an album she'd started the summer before, and X is the sound of a pop star back at full power.

She brought a top-flight production team: Bloodshy & Avant, Calvin Harris, Greg Kurstin and Freemasons among them. "2 Hearts" opens with a strutting, piano-pounding glam groove that went top ten in Australia, Spain and the UK, "Wow" is pure dancefloor sugar, and "In My Arms" bounces on a big electro hook. "Speakerphone" and "Like a Drug" lean into sleek electronica, "All I See" slows things down for a smooth R&B glide, and "The One" closes the singles run with a shimmering Euro-disco anthem.

The KylieX2008 tour took the album around Europe, Oceania, South America and Asia, and X has sold more than 1.4 million copies worldwide. The title doubles as the Roman numeral for her tenth studio album, which is about as efficient as titling gets.
