Kasabian's 2004 self-titled debut as a limited set of two 10-inch discs in a gatefold jacket, with "Club Foot," "L.S.F. (Lost Souls Forever)" and "Processed Beats."
This limited edition splits the debut across two 10-inch discs in a gatefold jacket, pressed in the EU. The album reached No. 4 on the UK Albums Chart and went triple platinum in the UK.
To make their first album without distractions, Kasabian moved into a farmhouse near Rutland Water. Tom Meighan, Sergio Pizzorno, Chris Karloff and Chris Edwards had been playing together since their school days in the villages outside Leicester, first as Saracuse, before BMG signed them and the new name stuck. Edwards had once worked as a sound engineer at Bedrock Studios in Leicester, where the band made its first recordings.
"Reason Is Treason" and "Processed Beats" came out first, but "Club Foot" was the breakthrough, a stomping riff the band has played at nearly every show since. Karloff's guitars and electronics drive the swaggering "L.S.F. (Lost Souls Forever)," "Cutt Off" and "Test Transmission," which NME singled out as the standout. The band produced it themselves, with Jim Abbiss adding production and the mix, and a rotating cast of drummers passed through until Ian Matthews, met during sessions in Bristol, joined for good.
Kasabian played the Other Stage at Glastonbury in 2005 and headlined the whole festival in 2014. Nine years from a side stage to the top of the bill, which is quicker than we've managed to get the shop sign repainted.
