About the album

There are worse ways to make a debut album than leaving halfway through to open for the Rolling Stones. Jet were four lads from Melbourne with a stack of old rock records, and they recorded Get Born at Sunset Sound and Larrabee East in Los Angeles with producer Dave Sardy, then flew home to support the Stones on the Australian leg of their Licks tour before finishing the job.

"Are You Gonna Be My Girl" was voted No. 1 in Triple J's Hottest 100 for 2003, and the band always said it owed more to 60s Motown than anything else. "Cold Hard B***h" topped both of Billboard's Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts, "Radio Song" looks back at their unsigned days in Melbourne, and "Rollover DJ" grumbles cheerfully about dance nights pushing bands out of the clubs. "Look What You've Done" is the big piano ballad, and "Timothy," written for guitarist Cameron Muncey's brother, later got a Timbaland remix.

In 2010 it made the book 100 Best Australian Albums, and it still sounds like a band let loose with a rack of amplifiers and four minutes before the venue closes.
